Instructions for the Hands Free PhagiaFlex Dysphagia Exercise Device
- Pull the flexible, padded table grip apart slightly so that it will easily slide over the edge of the table. Slide it all the way onto the table, and then stop pulling it apart so that it will grip the table firmly.
- Place the table so that the chin pad of the Hands Free PhagiaFlex Dysphagia Exercise Device reaches the patient's chin, just behind the chin bone. Note: To fit under some chairs or wheel chairs, you may need to place the device on the end of the table instead of the long side.
- Move the table a few inches away from the patient and elevate the adjustable height table so that the chin pad is 2-4 inches higher than the level of his chin when he is in the chin elevated position, so that the device will be slightly flexed to provide the desired level of resistance when the chin is tucked down.
- Press the chin pad down and slide it under the patient's chin. Place his arms or feet on the table to keep it still and steady. Proceed with exercises.
