Rolyan Ezeform™ Thermoplastic Splinting Material

Rolyan Ezeform™ is a thermoplastic splinting material featuring high resistance to stretch and moderate conformability. This combination gives clinicians greater control during molding while requiring less force during formation, making it particularly suitable for medium and large, intricate splints. 

The material stays in place during molding and will not stretch out of shape when removed from a splint bath. Ezeform has an uncoated surface, allowing heated surfaces to bond permanently when pinched together. It can be reheated and reshaped repeatedly; however, once stretched, it will not return to its original shape. 

Ezeform is non-toxic, latex-free, and radiolucent.

Handling Characteristics

- Resistance to Stretch: Maximum – The material does not stretch unless pushed or pulled in a direction and held until cool. Unexpected patient movement will not cause it to deform.

- Conformability: Moderate – Conforms to surface contours and details when some force is applied, with a moderate degree of drape.

- Memory: Minimum – Can be reheated and reshaped but will not return to its original shape.

- Bonding: Uncoated – A permanent bond can be created by pinching heated surfaces together. 

Physical Characteristics

- Colours: Beige, Charcoal, Blue, White

- Thicknesses: 1/16" (1.6 mm), 3/32" (2.4 mm), 1/8" (3.2 mm)

- Perforations: 1%, 19%, or Solid

- Appearance: Opaque when heated

- Rigidity: Moderate/Maximum – 40.7 kpsi (Young's Modulus testing value)

- Surface: Smooth – resists unwanted fingerprints and markings 

Heating Instructions

Hot water in a splint bath is the recommended heating method. A heat gun should only be used for spot heating and adjustments. 

Overheating increases the material's draping and stretching characteristics. The material should be allowed to cool slightly before handling to avoid excessive stretching.

Ezeform splinting material is intended for the fabrication of custom-molded rigid splints, orthoses, and adaptive equipment. Recommended uses include:

- Static progressive and serial static splints 

Care & Cleaning

Store between 40–90°F (4–32°C) and below 65% relative humidity. Avoid prolonged exposure to light, particularly ultraviolet light, and avoid exposure to corrosive and ethylene oxide fumes.

Formed splints may lose their shape at temperatures above 135°F (57°C) and should therefore be kept away from heat sources. Clean with soap and lukewarm water and allow the splint and straps to dry thoroughly before reapplication.
