Description

With the Sniffin’ Sticks Identification Test 16 (blue version) you have the ability to identify everyday smells is determined. This smell test was developed for the ENT specialist in private practice, neurologist or general practitioner. The Identification Test consists of 16 odour pens with everyday odours, which have to be identified by the patient by means of a multiple-choice-card with four terms each.

Sniffin’ Sticks identification test 16, blue

The identification test 16 is used for the classification of the sense of smell. With the result of the test, with the cooperation of the patient, a distinction can be made between normal sense of smell (normosmia) and limited sense of smell (hyposmia).

The test can be used from the age of 5 years. There is a special variant of the identification test (U-Sniff Children Smell Test) for children aged 6 to 17 years.

Shelf life Identification Test

Each stick is labelled with a best before date, you can use the Sniffin’ Sticks for as many people as you want before this date. Important is that you use the stick correctly, don’t touch the tip of the pen with fingers or nose. That will contaminate the stick and you cannot use the stick anymore because you cannot guarantee the quality of the odor of the stick. The shelf life for the identification test is approx. 1-1.5 year.

Difference between the blue and purple test

The Sniffin’ Sticks identification test is available in a purple and blue version. Both tests contain 16 everyday smells but they are supplement to each other. The reason for the development of two version is to avoid possible recognition of the pens and therefor it is possible to use both tests to make repeated tests of patients in a short interval (hours to days, e.g. before and after an operation) possible, without the patient recalling the answers. If you want to use both tests together, use the average of both Identification Tests for evaluation.
