Fourier M2: Upper-Limb Rehab Robotics

Fourier M2: Upper-Limb Rehab Robotics

The M2 Robot is a robotic, height adjustable workstation that provides upper limb rehabilitation using four therapy modes:
*Passive for those unable to move their arm by themselves and who need the robot to carry out relevant movement patterns
*Assistive for those who have some movement but are unable to complete training tasks without assistance.  The robot senses the intention and assists the completion of the desired training task
*Active for individuals who have weak muscles in their upper limb but who are able to complete training tasks without assistance
*Restistive training is suitable for patients whose treatment plan requires their affected upper limb to function against added resistance

Fourier M2 is designed to encourage neuroplasticity of upper-limb function on patients with neurological brain injuries.  With the delicate haptic technology integrated, Fourier M2 can ‘feel’ the touch of the patient and provide assistive force for completing the environment. Moreover, objective evaluation of exercises and user-friendly reports about the patient’s progress provide accurate reference to the therapists.

Fourier M2 as the next generation of the rehab robot by collaborating with the therapists, it allows the execution and management of rehabilitation process to be more efficient and effective.

TOWARDS A NEW VISION: COLLABORATIVE REHAB ROBOT

KEY FEATURES

  - 4 TRAINING MODES

Applicable for all stages of neural recovery

  - CUSTOMIZATION

    Provide unique ‘Teaching’ Mode

  - IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE

Reward-based therapeutic games

  - MULTI-SECURITY PROTECTION

Over-torque protection, emergency stop button and electronic fence

  - PROFESSIONAL ASSESSMENT

Quantified data about functional assessment of ROM

  - VARIOUS TRAINING TYPES

   Cognitive/ROM/muscle strength training

  1) 4 TRAINING MODES

Fourier M2 provides various training modes on upper limb rehabilitation, including passive, assistive, active and resistive modes which covers all stages (1-7 based on Bruunstrom Approach) of neurorehabilitation process after stroke.

Applicable for all stages of neural recovery

2) PROFESSIONAL ASSESSMENT

Real-time data acquisition and analysis with quantified assessment mechanism allow generating biomechanical evaluation & performance report such as range of motion, moving trajectory and muscle strength.

Reports generated & stored automatically after each training & evaluation

Integrated with high-precision haptic sensors for quantification

3) IMMERSIVE GAME-LIKE EXPERIENCE

Engaging therapeutic games based on real-time trajectory feedback greatly motivates patients throughout the rehabilitation process.

Coordinated with user-friendly interactive interface, the reward-based and task-oriented games motivate patients to be more actively engaged into treatment.

4) CUSTOMIZATION

No need for any programming or coding knowledge, the therapists can leverage “teaching” mode to create a customized training trajectory and satisfy for different patients' conditions.

By moving the handle, therapists can simply plan the movement that patients supposed to accomplish while M2 records the trajectory automatically for reloading.

5) MULTI-SECURITY PROTECTION

Fourier M2 provides the fully security protection including the emergency stop, over-torque protection and also the electronic fence.

These protection approaches could provide multi-level safety net to ensure the physical conditions of patients are inviolable.

6) VARIOUS TRAINING TYPES

Fourier M2 contains variety of training types to cover different body parts rehabilitation, which as a result, adapt to specific demands of patients.
